Go make disciples of all nations!

With great joy……

Announcement 12 SEP 2020

The Gospel tells us: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

My friends the mission of the Church is always directed outward; to spread the Good News is our fundamental call.  I am hoping to clarify some misinformation that I have learned is out there in our community.

On Aug 10th, I as Bishop of the Holy Cross Old Catholic Diocese of the Midwest extended to Rev. Colleen an invitation to consider forming a new community of faith within our Diocese.

On Aug 16st I received an email from Rev Colleen in which she said: “I have decided that I would like to pursue your invitation.  Your comments on the possibilities and our ability to further share another way to be Catholic during this difficult era are greatly appreciated.”

Rev. Colleen and I met on Aug 31st and I formally accepted her intention.

Rev. Colleen and I will continue meeting as we regularly do and we will do our best to put forward further opportunities to share with everyone the plans moving forward.  Until then we ask for your prayer and positive thoughts on this opportunity to serve the mission of the Church.  We do want everyone to know that Rev. Colleen and I have agreed that there will not be a conflict between the times of the liturgies we celebrate so that it will not cause undue angst for anyone in the community.  We look forward to sharing with you more details as they are worked out in the near future.  Thank you in advance for your positive thoughts, words and prayers.

Sincerely,

Bishop Marty Shanahan
